Battle of Britain quilt

I completed this handmade quilt in time for the Remembrance Sunday service at Reigate Park Church in November 2010 - seventy years on since the Battle of Britain took place in the skies above Surrey, Kent, Sussex and surrounding areas.

It had a second airing at the Age Concern/Royal British Legion commemorative event the same week, in the presence of several war veterans and serving officers in the RAF and other armed forces.

Visitors studied the historic details carefully reproduced on pieces of patchwork - photographs of Winston Churchill, Bernard Montgomery, images of British fighter aircraft, aerial photographs taken by the Luftwaffe for their navigators to follow, with maps and instructions printed in German - all interspersed over a general 'bird's eye view' of the North Downs and the vale of Holmesdale.

My greetings cards didn't arrive in time so please contact me if you'd like to place a special order - there is one at the end of the video.
